Attention and Information Processing: The Advanced Cognitive Rehabilitation Workshop

I just wanted to thank you for your incredible courses, having completed the Advanced cognitive rehabilitation, Insight, Behaviour and Relaxation webcasts. I have not done a course before that is as well structured, informative, and well presented as your courses, I only wish you did some upper limb courses! I will be highly recommending these courses to my colleagues.

This webcast is interactive. The presenters provide information of a very complex nature in a way that is easy to understand, by using metaphors and breaking information down into bitesize chunks. I thoroughly enjoyed the use of case studies because the patient scenarios used were relevant

I really enjoyed the advanced cognitive workshop this weekend. Information was presented in a logical way, and although some of the material covered was complex - it was explained very well. I am looking forward to using my knowledge in practice, just like I was able to adapt my practice after attending the Basic Cognitive workshop. Thank you!

Just a quick note to thank you both so very much for the workshop this weekend; it was absolutely perfect. The venue - ideal. The workshop times and duration - ideal. The course content inspiring, thought provoking, entertaining, educational and practical. Having completed and left the first workshop on Friday, I was eager to attend on Saturday - and was not disappointed. I will definitely incorporate the practises and processes into our service, and disseminate your CRT approach to my team. I will without doubt attend additional workshops, and encourage my manager to process my application for the distance training. Again, huge thanks to you both for inspiring me to improve what I believe is currently an excellent service, and for giving me the opportunity to reconsider and review my practises in view of my client group.

Just to say thank you!! I attended one of your Advanced Cognitive Rehab two day courses, and have found the content really useful. I am using the knowledge gained pretty much every day, and continue to highlight the importance of Attention and Information Processing to the whole MDT. You were both really inspiring and I hope to attend courses with Brain Tree Training in the future.

I wish I had done the Cognitive Rehabilitation Workshop aswell - I will now sign up for this one

I am rarely able to hold my own attention on lectures for any length of time, but this course kept me rivetted throughout the two days

This course should be attended by more doctors. It would be great for GPs (this comment from a medical doctor)

It was great to see how I could extend the work I have been doing using the more basic models of attention rehabilitation

I now need some time to absorb the huge amount of information presented on this course

This course was challenging, but I feel I have a much better understanding of these cognitive areas now

I have realised that this area is so important for people following stroke - and yet those of us working in stroke often fail to address these cognitive needs adequately!

I have realised that I have undervalued some of the assessments available to me; I will get out COTNAB again. I have realised that I can use this to assess the patients attention and information processing skills

Having come on this course, I now intend to design some information sheets to give to my patients; I can see the importance of this

This course has prompted me to incorporate more education for the patient and carers into our treatment programme

I will now stick more to the 4 assessment and treatment modalities presented on this course, and will report this more clearly

I will analyse our standardised assessments in the light of the information from this course to ensure they are giving me what I need to move my patients forward

As a result of this course I now intend to improve my recording techniques for issues involving education and strategy training; I have been doing these things but have not really realised how important they are and how they are an essential aspect of the patients treatment, until now

This course has given me improved awareness of cognition and I have a better understanding of why patients behave in certain ways

I have learned why I am doing the worksheets that I use in my centre, as a result of this course

The link between theory and practice has been made much clearer as a result of this course

I now intend to find and purchase better standardised assessments - particularly for attention skills. We are using minimal assessments at present and they are very general and not very useful for our patients needs

It was quite a revelation for me on this course to realise that I need to spend more time on vigilance type tasks - that when I am bored with this work it does not mean that the patient is. I need to get into their mind to make a better evaluation of when it is appropriate to move onto other tasks

I have realised that we tend to just use functional approaches in our team, and that this is not the whole story. So I intend to put more emphasis on the other 3 aspects of treatment now

I now have the confidence to flag up problems with the way that we do things in our team - and the course has given me a depth of knowledge and evidence to help me do this

I have learned that although we are doing a lot of the things you have taught us, we need to be more systematic in the way that we organise this - both in terms of the materials/activities and in the process itself

I will certainly be recommending the course to my colleagues; and I plan to run an in-service to increase the use of the Brainwave-R resources in our department

I just want to say that I found the attention and information processing course very beneficial. I certainly feel that I came away with a better understanding of the different theories, assessment methods and treatment techniques for patients with attention and information processing deficits

The Advanced course totally lived up to my needs and expectations - as did the basic course a few years ago. I will continue to adapt and embed it as a tool within my work with my patients as and when it is needed.

I attended the advanced course this weekend, and just wanted to say a big thank you to Kit and Anne. It was really inspiring, and so good to be able to attend a course which comes from all their experience of having done this stuff for ever, and then sharing it and linking it all so seamlessly with the research. I found there was the new ideas that I had been looking for within the course, giving me plenty to think about and develop. It also made more sense of some of the difficulties I had been having, when trying to implement some of the stuff from the basic course I attended a few years ago, as you begin to realise, it is not all as easily divided up as presented. The input from the other course participants was also really helpful and worked well.
