Distance Learning Course for Support Workers and New Staff, in Awareness, Behaviour and Cognitions(Cost £252.50 for whole package, or £50.50 per module)This distance learning course is designed for Support workers and any staff who are new into the field. However, it is open for all staff who feel they would benefit.
The brain, and the complex problems that occur when it is injured, can be difficult concepts to grasp. Individuals with brain injuries can be challenging to work with, especially when the caregiver has not been educated about the awareness, behavioural, and cognitive problems that often occur.
Our six-module set of Distance Learning for Support Workers and New Staff addresses this need by providing in-depth, easy-to-read educational materials for support workers and staff new to the field. The first module provides a basic background in brain anatomy, how it works and what happens when it is damaged. In addition you are encouraged to develop empathic understanding for what it means to have a brain injury.
The second module focuses on clinical skills, including teaching strategies, goal setting, treatment planning and clinical reporting. It provides specific examples, templates, strategies, and applications of rehabilitation—providing the staff with concrete, comprehensive tools for providing rehabilitation.
On completion of the first and second modules, staff will understand how to plan for treatment, prepare reports, administer assessments, and guide their patients towards recovery.
The following three modules address specific problems of awareness, behaviour and cognition. They each provide a detailed understanding of the issues involved and what to do about them, in a clear, concise format.
The final module focuses on lifestyle issues, which are relevant for staff members, families and the person with brain injury. 21 key habits are presented, along with detailed information about family issues.
Each module in this Distance Learning Course provides additional benefits:
- Complex concepts are clearly illustrated in the graphics and charts
- Key terms, ideas, and useful tips are highlighted
- Additional resources are provided throughout the course
Our course is self-guided and can take anywhere from 6 weeks to a year to complete. Many people average just 2-3 hours a week on each course, and adjust the amount of study time as needed. Assignments, exercises, and self-tests are included throughout the coursework—some of which are mailed or emailed to a course tutor for feedback.
It’s easy to educate yourself or your staff about the complex nature of brain injury. Work at your own pace and at your own office, all while receiving the benefit of an in-depth education with professional tutoring.
